How to use Resilio Connect with Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage

Resilio operates over existing infrastructure and uses P2P file sharing protocols and WAN acceleration to optimize file transfers.

Resilio Connect can be configured with B2 Cloud Storage by following the steps below.

Step 1:

In Resilio Connect, go to Settings in the upper right corner, and then click on Cloud Storage.

Step 2:

Click Add, and then select S3 compatible Storage, and click Next.

Step 3:

On the Configure Storage tab, enter a name for the storage profile, and optional description.  Then enter the S3 Endpoint URL, Key ID, Access Key (App Keys) into the appropriate fields.

Then click Test Connection to validate your settings, and then click Save.

Step 4:

We need to adjust some Default Profile settings to get the best performance when transferring data to Backblaze B2.  These settings will likely be built into Resilio Connect in the future, but for now this is a manual process.

In the Menu bar, click on Profiles.

Then click on Default Agent Profile, and click Edit.

Next, click on Import, and paste the following text into the blank form:

{

  "ignore_symlinks": true,

  "async_io": true,

  "torrent_min_piece_size": 8388608,

  "max_chunk_size": 0,

  "torrent_max_piece_size": "8388608",

  "peer_max_queue": "536870912"

}

Then click Validate and Save.

If you have any problem with pasting the settings into the file, then save the above settings into a text file (b2-profile.txt), and use the Import from File option to import the file.

Then back on the Default Agent Profile page, click Save one more time.

Step 5:

To create a backup job, click on Jobs in the top-right Menu bar.

Then click on the Configure Jobs tab, and then Create New Job.

Step 6:

For Job Type, click on Distribution, and then click Next.

Step 7:

Enter a job description, and then click Next.

Step 8:

On the Source Agent tab, pick the agent to transfer files from, then click on “specify path” and enter the directory to backup. Then click Next.

Step 9:

For Destination Agent, click on the Management Console.  Then click on the highlighted path.

Change the path type from Direct Path to Cloud Storage.

Step 10:

Then select B2 Cloud Storage

For the path, delete the default path, which is the job description name,  then click Browse.

This will let you browse the list of buckets in your Backblaze B2 account, select an existing bucket or create a new bucket.

When you're done, your Target Path screen should look like this, with the Path being the name of your bucket.  Click Save.

Step 11:

Then back on the Destination Agent tab, click Next.

Step 12:

On the Triggers tab, review script options, and configure if needed for your purposes, and then click Next.

Step 13:

On the Job Scheduler tab, you can choose to run this job manually or periodically.  Review and select the best option for your goals, and then click Next.

Step 14:

On the Settings tab, you can leave everything at default, unless you have a special requirement.  Click Next.

Step 15:

On the Notifications tab, you can add email notifications if you have configured an SMTP server, otherwise, click Next.

Step 16:

On the Review Summary tab, review all the backup job settings, and then click Save.

Step 17:

Back on the Configure Jobs tab, you can click on the job you just created, and then click Start to begin the backup.
