B2 Release Notes

The Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage software and related system services are typically updated once a week.  These updates may include new features, fixes, and improvements to the system.  The release notes below document customer facing updates.

B2 version 1.0 (Release Date 28 June 2016)

18 August 2016

  • Command-Line Tool: Updated Command-Line Tool to version 0.6.4, minor fixes.
  • User Interface: On the B2 Browse Files web-page.  Fixed a bug so that deleting a "lower folder" will not delete the entire folder which holds the "lower folder".

11 August 2016

  • B2 Domain: The new backblazeb2.com is now available for all B2 services.
    • The transition from backblaze.com to backblazeb2.com can begin immediately.
    • This applies to all Backblaze API calls.
    • The backblaze.com domain will remain available until Feburary 2nd, 2017.
    • Download requests from either domain are supported. Requests to download files from a public bucket using f000.backblaze.com and/or f001.backblaze.com will redirect to f000.backblazeb2.com and f001.backblazeb2.com, respectively. This process is transparent for web browsers and other http clients as both should follow redirects.
  • Documentation:  Added/updated documentation for the b2_get_download_authorization API.
  • File Types: Added B2 API support the m4a (audio/mp4) filename extension.

04 August 2016

  • User Interface: Added comment to B2 Buckets >> Bucket Settings pages indicating that the changes made take about 10 minutes to take effect.
  • User Interface: On the B2 Browse Files page, fixed a bug that would not let you download a file if there was only one file in the bucket.
  • Snapshots:  When working with a "large file", you can now cancel a Snapshot anytime during the creation process before downloading.

  • Logging:  Infrequently, a "file_not_present" message would be generated by the Web GUI when deleting a file or groups of files.  Logging of this condition is now off by default and only needs to be turned on if recommended by Backblaze B2 support.
